Wick Communications, owner of the Montrose Daily Press and the Telluride Times-Journal, and DP News LLC, owner of the Daily Planet in Telluride, the Morning Sun in Montrose and the Montrose County Shopper, made a joint announcement of a sale and purchase transaction. John T. Cribb of Bolitho-Cribb & Associates advised DP News LLC in the sale.
In the transaction, DP News LLC became the owner of the Telluride Times-Journal. Wick Communications purchased all of DP News LLC’s assets and operations in Montrose, including the Morning Sun, the shopper, the presses, and equipment. The Montrose Morning Sun will cease operations on October 1.
Three DP News LLC newspapers, The Daily Planet, Gunnison County Times, and the Crested Butte Chronicle and Pilot, are not involved in the transaction.
Wick’s Montrose Daily Press will begin printing the Telluride, Gunnison and Crested Butte newspapers under contract from DP News.
The Montrose Daily Press plans to continue publishing The Shopper as a TMC publication. The Telluride Times-Journal will be incorporated into the Telluride Daily Planet’s existing Friday Weekend Edition to form an expanded weekly newspaper covering all the news and events in the Telluride region and beyond.
