The Lake Geneva Regional News and The Resorter were purchased by United Communications Corporation.
This announcement was made simultaneously by Donald Bearder, former publisher of both publications, and Howard Brown, president of United Communications Corporation, and publisher of the Kenosha News.
Douglas Bearder, present publisher, has been named general manager of the two publications. No changes in personnel of operations are contemplated at this time.
“We are pleased to sell the Regional News to United Communications Corporation,” Don Bearder noted. “We have been good neighbors for decades and both the Lake Geneva Regional News and the Kenosha News share similar values, including community service and sensitivity to the needs of employees.”
The Lake Geneva Regional News publishes 6,300 copies weekly; The Resorter 17,000 copies. Both publications cover Lake Geneva and areas as far as 25 miles around it.
John T. Cribb of Bolitho-Cribb & Associates represented the sellers. Financial particulars regarding the sale were not disclosed.
