Independent Publications, Inc. has sold the Gadsden County Times to Gemini Newspapers, Inc. according to Gary Greene of Cribb & Associates, the broker representing the seller. Ron Isbell, Gemini Newspapers’ partner, will be the Gadsden County Times new publisher and will relocate to Quincy, Florida. Dwight Connelly of Martinsville, Illinois, is Gemini Newspapers’ other owner. Isbell and Connelly both have extensive newspaper careers.
“We believe that the newspaper’s future and the community’s future are locked together so that anything we can do to publish a good newspaper will help the community. We have spent more than a year looking for the right community and feel strongly that Quincy is it,” Isbell said. “I look forward to becoming a part of this community.”
Gadsden County Times is a paid weekly publication with a circulation of 5,200.
The deal closed on April 1, 2004. Cribb & Associates is a newspaper brokerage firm with offices in Montana, Virginia, and Florida.
