Pioneer Newspapers, Inc. has entered into a contract with Grand Teton News, Inc., owner of the Teton Valley News, to acquire the Driggs, Idaho weekly on January 1, 2006, according to John Cribb, Cribb & Associates, LLC, who represented the buyer in the transaction. Last week, Grand Teton News and Pioneer announced that Grand Teton would be acquiring Pioneer’s Havre, Montana newspaper The Daily News on that same date.

Pioneer is the majority owner of a number of Idaho daily newspapers – The Pocatello Idaho State-Journal, the Rexburg Standard Journal and the Nampa Idaho Press-Tribune, as well as the weekly Emmett Messenger Index and a print facility in Preston, Idaho. Pioneer also owns daily and weekly newspapers in Montana, Utah, Oregon and Washington.

“The Teton Valley is a growing area, and we think that the Teton Valley News will be a great fit for our group. The Teton Valley News is an award winning weekly newspaper, and we hope to continue the tradition established by the current owners. We strongly believe that editorial and operational decisions are best made locally since the employees at the Teton Valley News know the area and the market far better than anyone else,” said David Lord, president of Seattle-based Pioneer Newspapers, Inc.

Cribb & Associates, LLC is an eighty-two year old newspaper brokerage firm with offices in Montana, Virginia, and Florida.
